Description

We’re celebrating our 160th anniversary in 2025 with new formats and flavors of the cheese that put us on the map. Petite Breakfast Everything is a boldly flavorful new take on a historic favorite.

We’ve been crafting Petite Breakfast Fresh Brie at Marin French since the late 1800’s. For over a century, this deliciously unique cheese has won the hearts of locals and visitors. What is a fresh brie? This cheese uses the same recipe and the same artisanal cheesemaking process as our other brie varieties but skips the aging room. The result is a fresh cheese that lacks a bloomy white rind and has a tangy flavor and slightly springy texture, reminiscent of cheese curds. In this recipe, Petite Breakfast is infused with a generous portion of our custom allergen-free Everything blend, delivering bold savory notes and a satisfying crunch that pairs perfectly with the cultured cream-cheesy tang. Everyone’s favorite bagel, without the bagel!

Breakfast Brie has a rich history, originally created as a protein-packed alternative for gold miners turned Bay Area dock workers in the late 1800’s. As the Gold Rush waned and the San Francisco Bay Area experienced a population boom, the demand created a locally legendary egg shortage. Our founder, Jefferson Thompson recognized this need and crafted a quick-to-market cheese with a clever name that just so happened to be delicious. Over 100 years later, there’s still nothing like it.

So, whether you’re starting your day or savoring a late-night snack, Petite Breakfast Everything is the perfect companion. Bring a taste of history to your table.

tasting notes
Breakfast Brie holds a unique place in our hearts. It’s our oldest cheese, steeped in rich history, yet also our youngest – shipped fresh and unaged. This unique cheese has a culture-forward tangy flavor, reminiscent of cream cheese or fromage blanc. Petite Breakfast Everything adds the bold and savory flavors of garlic, onion, poppyseed and nigella, which also give it a satisfying crunch.

Pairing
WINE WINE
If you’re staying true to the cheese’s name and enjoying as a morning addition, pair with sparkling wine or a lightly juiced Mimosa. For afternoon or evening occasions, try a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. The light acidity of the wine will complement the cheese without overpowering it.
BEER BEER
For the perfect pairing, consider opting for a light beer. A wheat beer or lager work wonderfully – they will let this cheese’s bold flavors shine. Enjoy a refreshing sip as you savor each bite!
CHEESEBOARD FAVORITES CHEESEBOARD FAVORITES
Petite Breakfast Everything loves savory accompaniments. Of course, you can go with classic deli flavors, and serve alongside smoked salmon, pickled veggies or cornichons, with some fresh fruit to balance the strong savory flavors.
STAFF PICKS STAFF PICKS
Petite Breakfast Everything is fun to play with in the kitchen. We like to add a wedge on top of deviled eggs or place a sliced round or two on avocado toast. If you’re feeling thirsty, we recommend putting a piece on a toothpick or skewer and enjoying as a garnish – or a snack – alongside a Bloody Mary or Dirty Martini.

How long should the cheese be out of the fridge before serving?

It is best to leave your cheese out 30-60 minutes prior to serving for optimal flavor and texture.

There is white mold on my Petite Breakfast. Is this safe to eat?

Petite Breakfast is safe to eat even if there is some white mold on the outside. The cheese briefly shares an aging space with our older Brie cheeses and may pick up some of the  cultures that form their rind. It can be enjoyed as is or, if you prefer, you can trim off the white rind.
