We’re celebrating our 160th anniversary in 2025 with new formats and flavors of the cheese that put us on the map. Big Breakfast is just what it sounds like – a larger wheel of a historic favorite.
We’ve been crafting Petite Breakfast fresh brie at Marin French Cheese since the late 1800’s. For over a century, this deliciously unique cheese has won the hearts of locals and visitors. What is a fresh brie? This cheese uses the same recipe and the same artisanal cheesemaking process as our other brie varieties but skips the aging room. The result is a fresh cheese that lacks a bloomy white rind and has a tangy flavor and slightly springy texture, reminiscent of cheese curds. Big Breakfast is the perfect size and shape for special occasions or culinary applications.
Petite Breakfast brie has a rich history, originally created as a protein-packed alternative for gold miners turned Bay Area dock workers in the late 1800’s. As the Gold Rush waned and the San Francisco Bay Area experienced a population boom, the demand created a locally legendary egg shortage. Our founder, Jefferson Thompson recognized this need and crafted a quick-to-market cheese with a clever name that just so happened to be delicious. Over 100 years later, there’s still nothing like it.
