Traditional Brie Cheese

Our Traditional Brie cheese is crafted using classic French cheesemaking techniques. Made with authentic cultures and aged slowly, it develops the familiar brie flavor profile redolent of sweet milk and light hints of mushrooms. It has an unmistakable buttery, rich texture and delicate taste reflecting a cow’s milk cheese crafted with the freshest milk from local North Bay dairies. The luscious texture of this cheese makes it the perfect partner to any recipe. It melts beautifully when cooked, making it a delicious addition to sandwiches or pasta dishes, or simply melted over some roasted vegetables.

Size: Available in 8oz and 16oz
Ingredients: Cultured Pasteurized Cow’s Milk, Salt, Microbial Enzymes.

Tasting Notes

Marin French Cheese Co.’s Traditional Brie cheese is fun to try with all kinds of pairings and recipes. It has a milder flavor than our Triple Crème Brie, Camembert, or other flavored brie cheeses, allowing it to go in many directions when serving.

  • Wine

If enjoying the cheese on its own, lighter wines like a Sauvignon Blanc will allow you to pick up the delicate flavors of the brie cheese. A Chardonnay is also lovely to play on the buttery notes present in both the wine and cheese.

  • Beer

We suggest trying a wheat beer or beer with citrusy notes to compliment the creaminess of this cheese. We also love a good cider! A crisp hard cider brings refreshing fruit notes and slight acidity that creates a wonderful pairing with this cheese whether it’s melted or on its own.

  • Cheeseboard Favorites

If you are someone who likes all the things on your cheeseboard, bring it on! This cheese is great with both sweet and savory accompaniments. Don’t be afraid to get adventurous and try using the brie as the board...try topping your wheel of brie with a drizzle of honey and some salty marcona almonds for a delicious flavor combination in every bite.

  • Staff Picks

Is Thanksgiving your favorite holiday? Us too. Our staff pick is a perfect grilled cheese made with brie cheese on sourdough bread with sweet and tart cranberry spread and wilted spinach for that touch of earthiness. Turkey is also delicious but optional on this sandwich to get that fall feeling all year long. If cranberry isn’t your favorite, a grilled cheese or toast of any kind is taken to new levels of flavor with this cheese.

Recipe Suggestions

If you’re going to try any recipe with our Traditional Brie, make it a baked brie. Whether using puff pastry for a brie en croute, or skipping the outside layer of crunch, this cheese is perfect for baking into a luscious gooey dish that everyone will want their hands on. Once removed from the outer wrapping, this cheese can be baked right in the wooden cup it comes in. Place on an oven safe dish, score the top rind and add any desired toppings (or don’t), and bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for about 20 minutes. Let rest for a few minutes before diving in with a crunchy baguette, crispy crackers, or apple slices. Some classic toppings to try include: garlic and thyme, fruit jams or slices, nuts, honey, dried fruits, sun dried tomatoes, or whatever your heart desires to go with your melty brie cheese.
